8 Ways Animal Wellness Center of OC Keeps Your Animal Healthy and Happy

Animal Wellness Center of OC Offers Holistic Healing Services for Your Pet

Between their loyal demeanor and affectionate attitude, it’s obvious why dogs have been dubbed “man’s best friend.” They are always happy to see you, they never complain about having to go somewhere and they’ll even put on a show in exchange for a treat! Dogs do so much to fill our hearts with happiness, and in return, our only priority is to give these furry friends the best life possible!  Animal Rehabilitation Center

As a dog owner, chances are you do the surface stuff—fetch, premium pet food, constant cuddles—but what about when it comes to their health and wellbeing?

With wellness on the rise, people are taking a natural approach towards healing, and our dogs and other pets deserve the same treatment. Which is why in August 2020, Animal Wellness Center of OC opened their doors to the animal community.

Focusing on rehabilitation and preventive health aspects of the veterinary industry, this safe space is far from your average animal clinic. It is the first place in Orange County to offer holistic healing for your pets. The team is composed of trained doctors and experienced individuals who are passionate about improving and restoring the quality of life for your four-legged family members.

“A lot of the pets that come to us are injured, and we want to give them the best quality of life possible,” says Animal Wellness Center of OC co-founder Lourdes Biancardi.

However, Biancardi also explains that your animal doesn’t have to be sick or injured to reap the benefits AWCOC has to offer. With a wide variety of treatments to choose from, here are seven things you can do for your pets to improve their health and enhance their quality of life!

1 | Physical Therapy

If your pet has recently undergone surgery or struggles to get around, physical therapy is a great place to start their healing journey. This practice has the power to advance the healing process while decreasing pain and inflammation in their bodies.

2 | Chiropractic Care

It’s crazy how a slight adjustment can make you feel like a whole new person, and through this treatment, animals can experience the same benefits. Focusing on the spine and nervous system to maintain joint health, routine chiropractic adjustments help correct misalignments that disrupt neurological communications between the brain, organ systems and tissues.

3 | Aquapractic

This signature treatment was developed by AWCOC’s very own Dr. Rod Block. He takes the principles of animal chiropractic care and performs them on your pet in the water! This new innovative practice is used to treat chronic conditions, aid recovery or improve general fitness in animals. When combined with veterinary treatment, it can vastly improve both the quality and rate of healing following surgery or a traumatic injury. “Seeing these dogs that are paralyzed go from not being able to move their legs at all, to moving in the water is so awesome,” expresses Biancardi.

4 | Underwater Treadmill

Another hydrotherapy service available is the underwater treadmill. This style of rehabilitation allows motion in a low-weight-bearing environment to help strengthen the muscles and tendons that surround joints as well as maintain strength and balance in the rest of the body.

5 | Acupuncture

If you are looking for a drug-free approach towards healing your animal’s pain, then acupuncture is highly recommended! This Eastern approach towards healing is a very successful tool for arthritis management in animals, and the team at AWCOC goes above and beyond to make your furry friend feel safe. “If they are unsure, we usually offer treats or bone broth popsicles to help them relax as Dr. Tran or one of our other specialists inserts the needles,” explains Biancardi.

6 | PEMF Mat

Short for “pulsed electromagnetic frequency,” this style of therapy improves cellular health by strengthening circulation throughout every inch of the body. It can be used to treat ligament injuries, spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions. It also has the ability to relieve any pain and discomfort that older dogs may experience.

7 | Laser Therapy

This unique treatment works with light wavelength energy to support healing and decrease pain. These results are achieved by increasing blood flow and oxygen to tissues, helping reduce inflammation.

8 | OZONE Therapy

A century-old therapy, OZONE, can treat a range of conditions in dogs, including inflammation-related diseases. The treatment brings easily soluble oxygen to affected areas of the body, decreasing inflammation and activating the immune system. It’s also antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal, so it can help treat any type of infectious disease—from cardiovascular and neurological to musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, urinary and more.  Animal Wellness Center of OC’s Dr. Debra Voulgaris is certified in medical ozone therapy and has used it to treat a variety of illnesses. She is also certified in canine rehabilitation and veterinary Tuina.

If you are interested in booking a treatment for your pet, give the Animal Wellness Center of OC a call. After your initial evaluation by one of their veterinarians, they will be able to suggest the services that best benefit your best bud!
