This New Huntington Beach Restaurant Will Transport You to Tulum, Mexico (No Passport Required)
While SOCIAL Kitchen & Craft Bar is well-known in SoCal, their Huntington Beach location has undergone a full transformation. Orange County restaurateur Andrew Dorsey and Chronic Tacos co-founder Daniel Biello have introduced their new concept: SOCIAL Cocina y Tequila.
If you’ve been dreaming about a tropical Tulum getaway, then an escape to this eatery is a must! As you walk through the palapa-inspired entrance, expect to lose yourself in the lush greenery and bohemian accents.
“We knew our SOCIAL Huntington Beach location needed its own identity and vibe,” explains Dorsey, owner of SOCIAL Costa Mesa and SOCIAL Cocina y Tequila.
To help bring his south-of-the-border vision to life, Dorsey called on head chef Jackie Salazar. Back in 2014, Salazar worked as Dorsey’s sous chef and helped opened SOCIAL Costa Mesa, nearly eight years ago. Thanks to Salazar’s true talent and Hispanic heritage, the cuisine at SOCIAL Cocina y Tequila is just as authentic as it is delicious.
“Mexican cuisine tells a story of love and hate through the bold flavors of spiciness, sweetness and acidity; it represents my roots, my family and the country of Mexico.”
We are all very excited to get this chance to create traditional food from all regions of Mexico and share it with the world,” said Salazar. Rooted in regional Mexican cooking, the menu features spicy salsas, flavorful meats, tasty tacos, and savory duck chalupas. And yes—don’t forget to save room for dessert, because the fresh churros are a must-try treat! Every dish is made from scratch with quality and authenticity in mind.
Just when the menu couldn’t get more impressive, Grayson Dierksmeier elevated things even further with an inspired bar program. Drawing from kitchen flavors and industry mentors, he crafted a drink menu that truly stands out from the rest.
“I enjoy the challenge of assembling untraditional flavors not common to cocktails in order to create unique drinks that are unlikely to be duplicated,” shares Diercksmeirer, the restaurant’s bar director.
